The processor acts as the brain of the computer that performs the instructions of a program. The ALU (arithmetic and logic unit) carries out the arithmetic and logical operations and can be found in some basic processors in items such as timers. The MAR is the memory address register which is used to keep the address of a memory location where data is kept. The address’s need to be unique so they can be found easily. The Control unit navigates the input’s and ouput’s of a computer programme and provides things like timing and signals to direct the operations.
