Representation of real numbers

You use floating point notation to get rid of the decimal point as binary doesn’t understand it. First you move the point all the way to the left and check if there is 8 numbers if not you add as many zeros at the start as you need. You then times that number by 2 and to the power of how many spaces you moved the decimal point.the 8 numbers is called the mantissa and the power in the multiplication is called the exponent.
